Savile Row Concours stayed rain defiant
It could have been so, so much better: Not the Savile Row Concours, but the weather, which brought a distinctly dark, damp aura reminiscent of ‘The Ipcress File.’ Some of the suits on display were nigh-on as sharp as that film’s Harry Palmer, but we were here for the cars rather than the bespoke tailoring.
It’s a fine backdrop, that Savile Row, and while it’s a stone’s throw away from the commercial bedlam of Regent Street, it’s a pleasingly different, quieter world – one The Special will always welcome.
‘The Row’ affords a compact, select mix of cars and the atmosphere’s good – no where near as aloof as some classic doomsayers might suggest. We’d’ve stayed longer, but the rain and a social at RAC called us away. Nevertheless, there’s always next year, and we will definitely be back.
