RAC Concours

RAC Concours

The second RAC Concours – and no difficult second album syndrome to contend with.  For those who attended the first this was more of the (high standard) same and for first-timers , ergo, The Special, it was an eye-opener of the very best kind.

The Royal Automobile Club has, in the past decade or so, really ramped up its car/motorcycle/motoring involvement. More events at both clubhouses, visits, talks and, at the top of the tree, the Concours.

Yes, there are other concours events in and around London so some might argue the Club has a tough act to follow. But with the bar at such a high level the RAC has had to raise it higher, and judging by the 2026 Concours, it has.

With a selection of themes – shooting brakes; Woodcote Trophy (1950s sports racers); pre-war masterpieces mascots); spoiler alert (cars with generous-proportioned spoilers); Targa Florio; V12 engines; motorcycles, plenty of bases were covered. And the display of upmarket Edwardians added to the mix.

And there was more: “An ‘L’ of a display” featured Lancias and Lagondas while the centenaries of Daimler and Mercedes-Benz were marked too.

It would be remiss not to mention the Members’ Paddock too, being a fine display of Club Members’ cars: needless to say, all bases were covered, from an early 1980s Mini to a Ferrari Superfast, and all points in-between.

An utterly fantastic event and one that’s already inked into The Special’s 2027 diary.
