The C15 Romahome made an about turn

Hot on the heels of the previous week’s visit to Much Marcle Steam Rally The Special’s plans to visit the Welland Steam Rally were cruelly cast aside courtesy of long queues seemingly going nowhere.

The Much Marcle experience put The Special crew in a great frame of mind but just two miles from the Welland venue traffic came to a halt. And there it stayed.

Suitably cheesed-off with the delay the mighty C15 Romahome made an about turn but sanctuary was found on common land a stone’s throw from Great Malvern, where a proper cup of tea and home-made sarnies in Elgar land revived flagging spirits. Exploring the lanes back to Ross-on-Wye was more than adequate compensation and The Special was home by mid-afternoon, 200-odd miles under its refurbished wheels.

Yes, we failed to get to an event and we covered more than 200 miles in the process, but the Romahome is booked in for the Three Cocks event on August 14 – something we’re very much looking forward to. We’ll be posting an event report.
