January Scramble kicks off Bicester Heritage’s 2024 dates
Christmas Day’s lunchtime table talk turned to the first 2024 Bicester Scramble and at Special HQ the anticipation grew as the New Year kicked in.
After last year’s Scramble visits the first of the year lived up to – and exceeded – expectations. Perhaps its early posting in the diary deterred some visitors and the cold weather might have had the same effect, but for hardcore classic enthusiasts there was no better place to be on a January Sunday.
As anyone who’s been to a Scramble knows, variety’s the name of the game and it was there in copious amounts: pre-war, post-war, modern classics? All there. Stock or modified? Ditto. Immaculate or full-on patination (by which we mean real, not vinyl loose approximations)? Yep, you’d find examples of those too.
But what makes the Scramble stand out is its atmosphere, where the pretentious ‘red cords’ air simply isn’t there, and that’s to be welcomed. We’ll be back at Scrambles throughout 2024: it’s certainly hit the ground running.
