Walter Hayes Trophy

Just like the season-opening Pomeroy Trophy the Walter Hayes Trophy signed off under cold, grey weather. But forget the micro climate enveloping the Silverstone circuit, because the racing was close – no, make that CLOSE – and utterly exciting.

Some ‘experts’ might say Formula Fords lack the outright speed bigger single-seater classes offer. But that, to put it mildly, is utter cobblers. Seldom has The Special seen racing this close, in an edge-of-the-seat manner that’s not always encountered these days.

The Special’s compact camera meant there were no racing shots but we did have a great look around the pit garages and came away more than impressed. And we’ll definitely return in 2025.
