Classics by the Coast
It wasn’t too early a start for our visit to the Glamorgan Classic Car Club’s ‘Classics by the Coast’ but our on-the-road-by-7.30am to Porthcawl reaped the rewards of a good parking slot and the chance to watch cars (and buses and vans) arriving en masse.
And it had cars a’plenty, from show regulars like Triumph Heralds and Morris Minors to a Rolls-Royce Camargue and a Renault Avantime, meaning there was plenty to look at: this wasn’t the type of show you’d breeze in and out of in half an hour.
What about a 1969 Cortina 1600E that bar front wings and valance was original? And when was the last time you saw a Fiesta Bravo, let alone one as good as the one being shown? A set of cosmic alloys on a Volkwagen ‘bay window’ pick-up was a show highlight and a beautifully-presented Hillman Avenger was worth the trip alone.
Mrs Special was totally taken by the just-completed rally MkII Escort, whose attention to detail was beyond superb.
But don’t take our word for it: the pictures will tell you more than we ever can. See you there in 2024.
