On parade on the border

Traction engines, classic trucks and, this being Wales, a fabulous array of classic tractors: The Special does like a proper vintage rally and the Three Cocks Vintage Show was once again a great place to while away an August Sunday.

For the second year running the C15 Romahome was on display, meaning a slightly early start and a pleasing run over the Brecon Beacons and on through Glasbury-on-Wye.

This was the first run since the C15 had received a shedload of work at Swansea’s Lloyd’s Peugeot Citroen. A new-old-stock radiator kept everything cool while the re-freshed rear brakes came in handy when making a sudden stop to avoid sheep – this is Wales, after all.

Safely landed and set up at the Three Cocks Vintage Show we had a site survey wander around the exhibits. And after a re-freshing brew we went for another wander, and then one more – after another pit-stop brew. And what a lot to see – and plenty of people to talk to. Old friends met again, new friends made.

In all, a superb event – a proper old-school vintage event. We’re looking forward to 2024’s…
