New Honda collaboration keeps the tuner movement alive – but in small scale

Mattel’s Brick Shop building sets are paying tribute to two modern classics, courtesy of a collaboration with Honda.

In a small-scale homage to the tuner movement Brick Shop’s 1:32 scale 1990 Civic and 2007 S2000 feature metal components, interchangeable wheel covers and decal sheets to offer a more personal touch once built.

The kits come with a matching 1:64 scale diecast model.

“The Honda Civic EF and S2000 are true icons of Japanese performance culture, and through Hot Wheels and Mattel Brick Shop, builders can now celebrate these vehicles by recreating them with their own customisation to display on their shelves,”

says Ted Wu, global head of Mattel’s Vehicle and Building Sets.

And in a statement that will please observers of today’s motor industry Rebecca Adamson, head of automobile at Honda Motor Europe – UK says:

“Seeing icons like the Civic EF and S2000 reimagined through Mattel Brick Shop gives fans a new, hands-on way to engage with the engineering and spirit that define the Honda brand.”

Priced at £21.99 each, the Civic kit features 248 parts, the S2000, 257 parts.
