Out West again
Out West again
Exactly a fortnight after our run to Pembroke it was out with the Kia and a westward-bound trip to Saggeston for another afternoon classic meeting. Yes, there was a clutch of cars we’d seen on our last visit, but there were some utter gems, none more so than a Wood and Pickett Margrave Mini.
Quite possibly the best one the Guvnor’s ever seen, it was beautifully presented throughout. Featuring a modified, punched-out 1275cc unit it was a marvellous example of the proper way to do a luxury Mini, whose specification easily bettered those of the later examples.
A tidy Mini 30 kept the Mini theme going while an HA Viva was a reminder of early-‘60s British family saloons, as was a Ford Prefect, while the seen-last-time Citroen DS was a smasher.
A great meeting, with more to come as summer progresses.
