Local weekend double-header for the Escort
Two days, two events for the Escort and as the mercury dropped but the skies stayed blue the Daytona Yellow longroof added extra colour at the monthly classic meeting at The Angel in Pontneathvaughan.
Being the height of summer, the number of cars was down on the previous meeting but the enticement of a decent brew and equally decent bacon bap was enough to secure an 80 miles round-trip – the Escort’s first outing in a few weeks.
Back at Special head office the following day saw the Escort on parade at Ferryside Classic Car Club’s annual show. This was the club’s biggest-ever with around 140 cars on the hallowed grass, and mates of The Special Jed and Chris from Ferryside Garage were up at 5.30am to help set things up.
A line-up of cars associated with Ferryside Garage was a good advertisement for the business, which carried out the restoration not only of the Escort but several other cars on display.
A great atmosphere and a fair number of motors we’d not seen before. That’s a double thumbs up from The Special.
